Forty percent of all US smartphone customers now carry an Android device. According to data from a July 2011 poll, Android has the market share, with Apple coming in second at 28 percent, Blackberry with 19 percent and Windows Mobile 7 with seven percent.

The poll continues by saying that of everyone polled, a third are considering an iPhone. The other third are considering an Android device. Android again leads when it comes to the question, “what is your next desired operating system?”

The report is in line with the current market share statistics which give Google a 41.8 percent share, and Apple a 27 percent share. With the rumours of a budget iPhone 4 circulating like wildfire, the mobile phones polls may shift to favour Apple in the coming months, but no-one can predict the outcome of this fevered battle which Android is currently dominating.
