Download this, and become him:
The Dark Knight Rises Z+ app for iOS is an audio treat. It’s a fairly unique app as well, taking the ambient sounds of everyday life and mixing them into a two hour long Dark Knight Rises soundtrack. The app is an augmented soundtrack which mixes into the users reality and is triggered by location, time of day, even the weather.
So here’s the deal. Download the app, plug in and wander the streets. The Dark Knight Rises Z+ app plays the most unbelievably moody music, even picking up tempo when the user is say, running from a boss throwing coffee cups at them. The iPhone’s mic picks up ambient noise as we said. So even the dull activity of typing becomes a stressful and expressive event. Sound effects are picked up, magnified and twisted by the app. And by god, it sets the scene. Here’s what the Hans Zimmer, composer of the Batman soundtracks has to say:
I’m hoping to give fans of this beloved trilogy the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the soundscapes and atmospheres of the world of the Dark Knight. This new app allows users to be part of the film in a way that goes beyond the movie screen—it’s the difference between looking at a photo of a river, and being able to drop your hand over the side of the boat and feel the currents of the water tug as the river takes you on a journey.
Some cool stuff, but Zimmer probably gets US$1 from ad revenues generated by the app. So plugging the software is a must.
Anyway, the app does what it says on the tin. This app is whatever you want it to be. A hero generator, a flight of fancy, an amalgamation of audio and reality. Whatever. It’s free, so grab it and savour the scant hours until the launch of The Dark Knight Rises.
