Moto RAZR and MAXX snag ICS upgrade for eager South Africans

Own a Motorola RAZR or MAXX? Live in South Africa? Then relish in the delight of Ice Cream Sandwich, or Android 4.0 which is goddamn finally making its way to these sturdy smartphones.

Only a “select number of users” will be lucky enough to get the ICS update, which rolls across the country to everyone else in the coming weeks. This is what Motorola calls its “standard upgrade process”. Regardless, there are plenty new features to get excited about.

There’s a new lockscreen, colour scheme, and folders for sorting out precious content. There’s a better screen lock option, a new contact app, a screenshot feature (only now, really?) and a bunch of other improvements under the ICS hood.

This all smacks of lateness but at least it’s here. Keep checking your MAXX or RAZR to see if you win ICS lottery.

so what is a “select number of users”? I’ve had this dinosaur since January and now I must still eagerly wait to be part of a “select few”? Who needs this in-crowd cr*p. Motorola? Anything but Moto is now my motto.
