Hmmm. Looks like Samsung’s taken over the mantle from Apple when it comes to super mysterious events.

The South Korean electronics giant today sent out invites to US press asking them to attend an event in which it promises to unveil “the next big thing”.

Placing the S-Pen front and centre immediately evokes thoughts of the Galaxy Note 2. Given that the event is in New York it could be US variants of the phablet, although such a scenario wouldn’t really require that level of mystery.

Unless a new generation of S-Pen has been gifted with as yet unheard of techno-magical properties. Now wouldn’t that be awesome?

Awesome, but unlikely. Still, we can dream can’t we?
