Gmail for Android 4.2 will have swipe and pinch to zoom

Finally the most wanted and frequently requested feature for Android devices, the ability to zoom and swipe on Gmail account content, will be available with the next version of Gmail for Android. For a lengthy period of time, Android users have complained about this lacking feature.

Users will now be able to swipe Gmail account emails for more options, like being able to archive or delete. Going through the options will also let users choose the ability to configure and personalise their options to include “no effect” or “always delete”. Reporting email messages as phishing will also be an option.

According to reports the Gmail app also works on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
