The new devices will ensure the Korean company gets a firmer foothold in the rather overcrowded tablet market, competing with the likes of Samsung, Apple and Sony.

The company will add a trio of tablets: 7.0″, 8.0″ and 10.1″ models will be added thanks to LG’s response to consumer needs says Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO LG

“Customers tell us that they want a wider range of devices that offer sizable screens without compromising portability. Unlike smartphones, tablets are not one size fits all. So we designed the G Pad Series for a diverse target audience, some who prioritize portability while others want the best multimedia experience possible. G Pad delivers on all counts.”

LG remains mum on internal specs, but the new tablets will include UX features “QPair” (smartphone to tablet connectivity) and “Knock Code” (LG’s device unlock/power off mechanism). Other then that and the screen sizes, we have no clue what the newer G Pads will offer hardware-wise. There is also no word on pricing or first availability.

To offer a reference point, the 8.3″ tablet offered a 1920×1200 screen, a 1.7GHz quadcore Snapdragon CPU, 2GB RAM, a front facing 1.3MP and rear 5MP cameras, and 16GB storage. One should imagine specs slightly similar or better than this.

Luckily for us we won’t need to wait much longer as the tablets will be officially revealed at the 2014 MedPi show in Monaco, running from the 13-16 May.
