Countdown sale hits Xbox: some notable titles in tow

Microsoft kicked off its Countdown sale yesterday, with the first phase running until 28 December, and there are plenty of gaming deals to be had in this round.

Some of these titles have been cheaper in the past, but Microsoft is also featuring daily deals, so keep an eye out if the current selection doesn’t appeal to you.

So are there any decent Xbox One discounts to be had then? Well, the steepest discounts apply to Lego Marvel Super Heroes and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell (67% or 75% for Gold members). Payday 2: Crimewave Edition and Tales from the Borderlands are available for discounts of between 60% and 67%.

Notable titles receiving 50% or 60% off include the two Assassin’s Creed games and the premium version of Batman: Arkham Knight.

Other games with a significant discount include Gears of War 4, a Titanfall 2/Battlefield 1 bundle, Dark Souls 3, F1 2016, Far Cry: Primal, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Halo 5: Guardians, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Ori and the Blind Forest and Star Wars: Battlefront.

Xbox 360 games available as well

The deals also extend to Microsoft’s last-generation console, with price-cuts on backwards-compatible titles as well.

Some of the more notable discounts for backwards-compatible games include Escape Dead Island (80%, 90% for Gold members), Just Cause 2 (70% or 80%), Deus Ex: Human Revolution (65% or 75%) and Rayman Legends (60% or 67%).

Otherwise, some of the more significant discounts in general include Dead Island (75% or 85%), Life is Strange Season Pass (65% or 75%), Sleeping Dogs (65% or 75%), Batman Arkham City (57% or 67%), Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (50% or 60%) and Dishonored (40% or 50%).

Check out Major Nelson’s website for the full listing of discounted games. Microsoft will be kicking off the second phase of the Countdown sale on 29 December, running until 9 January 2017.
