  • Nokia Lumia 1020: the best call making camera in town

On a recent trip to Paris, I took some of the most amazing photographs that I had ever taken on a mobile device. The richness of the colours and the luxurious hues made my images come to life and, quite honestly, delicious to look at it. This was possible because the device I was taking those pictures on was the Nokia Lumia 1020. Design: meet the skinny hunchback I am not going focus on this too much because if you’ve seen one Lumia device, you seen them all. Anyone who has used the 920 or the 925 pretty much gets the...

  • Nokia Lumia 925: thinner, but not all the way better

Ladies and gentlemen, Nokia listens when its users talk. I recently got my hands on a Lumia 925 and it’s a big step up from the 920 I reviewed earlier this year. Although I thought that the 920 had some very fetching qualities, I just could not look past the weight. As an iPhone user, I obviously think I am really clever because I have been brainwashed by the cult of Apple. But ever since I used the 920 I have slowly started waking up from the iComa. But can the 925 restore me fully? Design: Oh my, baby you...

  • Nokia Lumia 525 official, rocks candy-coated covers and 1GB RAM

Nokia’s Lumia 525 is the nippy sibling to the Lumia 520, a budget phone with loads of nifty software and hardware features that made it genuinely stand out from the rest. The Lumia 525 adds a few more hardware updates to the 520’s basic framework, such as more RAM. The Lumia 525 looks the business, thanks to its premium and ultra-glossy style. Is it thanks to the swap-in, swap-out covers, available in orange, yellow or white that makes it such a desirable candy bar phone? Nope, it’s the specs which are more than fair for a phone of this price....

  • Nokia’s 41MP Lumia 1020 hits South Africa, soon

It was announced today that Nokia’s latest flagship smartphone, the Lumia 1020, has arrived in South Africa. The 1020 was officially revealed back in July and was hailed for potentially replacing your digital camera as it carries a massive 41MP camera on its back. The Lumia 1020’s camera features Nokia’s PureView technology and optical image stabilisation which Nokia says “produces some of the sharpest images produced by any digital camera.” The camera-phone hybrid is meant to make a professional photographer out of any average Joe as the camera delivers “crystal quality” and “blur-free” pictures using ZEISS optics with six...

  • Nokia suspected of releasing 8″ tablet dubbed ‘the Illusionist’

Nokia launched its first¬†Windows tablets last month to much astonishment. To a certain extent at least — although nobody really expected Nokia to launch the Lumia 2520 10″ tablet, a series of leaks spoiled the element of surprise. Today, leaks and rumours started floating around yet again suggesting the Finnish tech giant is preparing to launch a 8″ Lumia tablet going by the name the “Illusionist”. Evleaks, an account that has been pretty damn accurate with its so-called leaks, has blown the whistle with The Verge eventually backing its claims. Nokia Illusionist is going to be their second RT tablet, but...

  • Nokia 6″ Lumia 1520 ‘Bandit’ may have 20MP PureView camera, cost $820

Nokia’s been teasing an event, “Nokia World” which will unveil its newest device, believed to be the so-called “Bandit” or Lumia 1520. Tomorrow we’ll hopefully see the new Windows Phone 8 smartphone officially in action. Although rumours and leaks have been pinballing throughout the web, a recent leak suggests it’s most likely to have a US$800 price tag which is more expensive than most smartphones out there. Apart from the 1520’s massive 6″screen, it also carries a 1080p display. On top of that it’s said to have a 20MP PureView camera and is powered by the latest Qualcomm processor (Snapdragon...

  • Nokia’s Lumia 2520 tablet outed on Twitter

Is what’s pictured above, care of Twitter tipster evleaks the real deal? Possibly. The oft reliable Twitter user evleaks managed to grab a shot of Nokia’s tablet, the Lumia 2520. It’s a great, clear shot of this cyan tablet and looks like it’s taken straight from a press release. The great eye of Microsoft and Nokia stares down on us, looks in our direction with a lidless glance and casts some unconfirmed specs of “Sirius” our way: It’s going to run Windows RT, which in our opinion is a terrible mistake A  quad-core Qualcomm 8974 (ARM) CPU will power it. This is a...

  • The Nokia Lumia 1520 is a 6″ beast and here’s a picture of it

Nokia’s dead right? A forgotten company eaten by the giant Microsoft machine. No, as Microsoft quietly digests Nokia, phones like this, the massive Nokia 1520, leak out of the digital orifices. EVleaks pulled this sneaky shot from the nether and posted it to twitter. Nokia Lumia 1520, 2013 pic.twitter.com/asZhT2YVsH — @evleaks (@evleaks) September 6, 2013 Here’s a closeup: Now let’s tell you about this phone with a 6-inch display and we reported on it ages ago. The Lumia 1520 was originally called “the bandit” but that’s a damn stupid name, 1520 is much better. It sounds enormous. And it is. The 6″ display...

  • Nokia’s Lumia 1520 ‘Bandit’ 6-inch giant reportedly leaked

If you’ve read our review of the Nokia Lumia 920 you’ll know it’s incredibly chunky. You should also know by now that Nokia isn’t scared of announcing fat screen smartphones like the 4.7-inch Lumia 625. Today, the Nokia 1520 which is also known as Nokia’s Bandit phablet, has allegedly been photographed — and it’s all kinds of big. Nokia Bandit = Lumia 1520 — @evleaks (@evleaks) August 27, 2013 Not only does it have a ridiculously scraping-by-tablet-territory sized display, it’s also expected to have impressive high-end specs which is something the Lumia 625 lacks. According to Windows Phone Central, it will host...

  • Nokia Lumia 625 unveiled with massive 4.7-inch screen, 4G and rainbow colours

Nokia’s just launched the Lumia 625– a massive screen with a small price. This 4.7-inch will have 4G and goes for US$290 (R2 845). We first caught sight of this fella, lumping around somewhere in China. Although claiming the title of having the biggest screen yet, this Windows 8 phone probably has the crappiest display ever. The woeful 480 x 800 will put many buyers off the most. According to the Verge, the viewing angles are extremely limited and the contrast levels poor. The 4G modem is pretty decent, though, and will be what most customers will flock to. “Fun, fast...
