  • Samsung echoes Apple’s closed OS: Galaxy S4 ‘impossible to root’

There is little doubt when it comes to who the leading Android handset manufacturer in the world is, considering Samsung has obliterated all competition since the inception of its Galaxy S II. The Galaxy range has sold tens of millions of devices and I’m sure you know more than a few people who use one of them. The devices are obviously aimed at the mass market, and as such Samsung has taken some steps to keep its latest flagship, the Galaxy S IV more secure, if less customisable, than its predecessors. Samsung has made “rooting impossible on newer stock kernels”...

  • The Galaxy S IV isn’t even out yet, but it’s rooted

For those lucky enough to own a Galaxy S IV, which would be practically no-one as the phone is only up for preorder, you’ll be happy to know that Samsung’s mammoth phone can now be rooted. XDA-developers.com has released a rooted ROM and instructions for hacking the S IV and, as per usual, any modifications done to your phone are down at your own risk. Do not destroy that which you cannot control. This root will only work on the Exynos 5 Octa 8-core version of the S IV, the GT-I9500. Visit the page, with download links and instructions here.  Androidauthority.com points out that most...

The launch will take place in New York, at a “Samsung Unpacked” event as Sammy is now dubbing it. Samsung Electronics' mobile division chief JK Shin says that the company has been inundated with requests from US mobile...

  • Rumoured Galaxy S IV spotted in Nenamark benchmarking tests

The much debated but yet to be confirmed Samsung Galaxy S IV has seen plenty of rumours, from specs to release dates. The latest development comes from Nenamark, a benchmark site for the Samsung model SCH-i545 device, with a 1920 x 1080 full-HD display. The Galaxy S III has a similar model number, SCH-i535 which gives the idea that this could have been a new Samsung model tested. Maybe the Galaxy S IV? Yes, it's a rather sketchy and unsupported rumour, but there could just be some weight to it. According to some leaked documents, the new device will feature the Exynos 5440,...

  • Samsung’s next-gen smartphone ‘Altius’ may be the Galaxy S IV

Sammobile, a fairly reliable source for Samsung information has dropped a vertible bombshell on us. On 15 April, Samsung may ship the “Altius”, a codename for it’s latest Galaxy model which may or may not be the Galaxy S IV. The Altius started life as “Codename J”, and we now know, thanks to Sammobile, that Altius will come in white and black and will sport some insanely maxed-out specs. And best of all,...

  • Samsung to reveal ’Something Big’ at CES 2013

A promotional video that is possibly teasing the Galaxy S IV, Galaxy Tab III, a rocket-powered NFC fridge or anything else for that matter, was posted on Sammy’s official blog, Samsung Tomorrow. The video bombards viewers with a lot of marketing jargon, but offers little in terms of substance for a definitive product release. The video ends with Samsung telling users to ready themselves for "something new" to be shown January 8 −11, or CES 2013. There's a pretty broad spectrum in terms of new products that Samsung could unveil but given the nature of the CES, one product keeps springing to...
