  • Lego Worlds launching 24 February in South Africa

The recently announced (at least for console) Lego Worlds will be making its way over to South Africa on 24 February. While Minecraft has been popular for years and is often thought of as the open-world Lego game, it seems the Danish brick company has other plans. The new title is their own answer to Minecraft and will allow users to build almost anything they can imagine (as long as Lego manufactures the specific pieces, of course). It is currently in early access on Steam for R159. Once the final game is released, users will be able to upgrade to the full version for...

  • LEGO Dimensions [PS4] review: the next big thing, or passing fad?

Is LEGO Dimensions the next big thing? Well it's certainly the next thing that's going to bankrupt me! The Toys to Life concept isn't a new one. My eldest son for example is obsessed with Skylanders, and although he never really got into Disney Infinity, he absolutely loves LEGO so it seemed like a logical fit. In fact it was a huge hit. So much so that I'm planning his Xmas list around LEGO Dimensions add-ons. You'll need to follow instructions in order to build your pieces -- some of these are physical instructions and others are unlocked once you start...

  • LEGO Dimensions is officially coming to South Africa (finally)

That's right, Lego's minifig video game is finally (and officially) hitting SA shores on 26 August. Make sure your credit cards aren't maxed out for this ever expanding series. Confirmed in a press release from Ster Kinekor, the company will be distributing LEGO Dimensions in SA. "Building on TT Games’ track record for exceptionally popular, engaging games, LEGO Dimensions expands our LEGO videogame franchise with a breakthrough, immersive interactive entertainment experience that will redefine the toys to life games category," writes senior vice president of TT Games, Jeff Junge. The game is an amalgamation of different properties, such as Back to the Future, Dr....

  • LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer roundup: BB-8 cuteness warning [updated]

Update: added more trailers. Ever since the initial announcement of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in March, developer Traveller's Tales and publisher WB Games have released a slew of trailers for the title. We've decided to collect all of those in one place for your viewing pleasure. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens encompasses the whole of the Star Wars movie by the same name, and a little more. These additional missions add backstory to some of the events you did and didn't wonder about. Related: Graham chats about LEGO Star Wars on SABC’s Expresso Show The game will contain voice...

  • Spider-Man character pack is free for LEGO Marvel Avengers

For any fans of Spider-Man (and really, who wouldn't be?) there's a new web-slinging character pack for LEGO Marvel Avengers.  The best part is that it's free. Available on pretty much every console the game was released on, the pack includes these six characters: Spider-Man (Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War) Spider-Man (Peter Parker) Spider-Man (Mile Morales) Spider-Girl Iron Spider ...and my personal favourite: Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly, not Kaine) Read more: LEGO Marvel Avengers review: just another brick in the wall This is the first add-on for Lego Marvel Avengers that has been available for free, besides the Thunderbolts pre-order incentive. All...

  • LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer mentions ‘Wookie cookies’

The latest LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer shows off missions set between the movie and Return of the Jedi. Let's hope these will be considered canon in some form or another. The trailer gives us a look at the six additional missions, including how Han and Chewie got the Rathtars, Poe Dameron rescued Admiral Ackbar, and how C-3PO acquired his Big Boss-looking arm. There are also a slew of new characters included, such as the Crimson Corsair. All of it looks interesting and hopefully, they are of substantial length. The trailer also confirms that core cast members have recorded all new...

  • LEGO Marvel Avengers review: just another brick in the wall

It's time for another LEGO game from developer Traveller's Tales in the form of Lego Marvel Avengers. This time, the company is releasing a second Marvel Comics-themed title, which is only good for audiences, right? Well, not really. Marvel has taken a different approach to this new game. Instead of an original tale, it recounts both of the Avengers movies as well as some of the titles in between. The game's stages are compact versions of different scenes from the films, such as the farm in Age of Ultron. Yes, that ghastly, lumbering piece of filmography made it into the...

  • LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer shows off some interesting new features

It was only a matter of time before LEGO churned out another Star Wars video game. The Force Awakens will be completely centred around Episode VII. That's not entirely true. It will also have additional missions that expand upon the seventh movie, such as how Han and Chewie got the Rathtars. The game also looks to change up the same old Lego mechanics with a few additions. For one, the trailer shows off aerial combat, which may just offer Star Wars fans something akin to the X-Wing or TIE-Fighter series. It looks like there are also some bro-shooter mechanics with a cover...

  • LEGO Marvel Avengers trailer shows off South Africa as playable area

LEGO's 2013 Marvel Super Heroes video game was an absolute marvel. It was every fanboy and fangirl's dream as the title collected an extensive roster of heroes and villains to play within an original storyline. The next title, Marvel Avengers follows the storyline of The Avengers, The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, and Thor: The Dark World. Releasing today, the trailer shows off a wide range of locations for players to explore. Some of the new areas include Tony Stark's Malibu house, Asgard, Sokovia, and South Africa. The hub world of New York looks to be recycled from the previous title. The trailer also...

  • 5 family-friendly LEGO games for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

I wanted to call this article “next gen LEGO round up”, but to be fair here this is no longer “next-gen”. The problem is I've called it that for so many years that habits are hard to break! Anyway, the point was that I've been playing a lot of LEGO games lately. Like, a lot! Why, you ask. Well the simple fact is I have a four-year-old son, and he loves LEGO games. Luckily, I do too so I figured I should share my ultimate LEGO video game list for current-gen consoles. I have a PlayStation 4, but these titles are available...
