Pokemon Go update brings over 80 new creatures, more

Pokemon Go was unarguably the biggest sensation of 2016, being all over the news and clogging up social media feeds everywhere. The popularity of the mobile game took a significant dip in the following months though. So what’s developer Niantic Labs doing about it?

Well, for starters, it’s announced that dozens of second generation Pokemon have made their way to the game.

“Starting later this week, you’ll have the opportunity to catch more than 80 Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games,” the studio wrote in a blog post. It added that creatures with “gender-specific variations” are also set to launch.

Other features announced include new items to make your first generation creatures evolve into second generation Pokemon, new reactions from Pokemon as you try to catch them, new avatars and expanded clothing items for said avatars.

Niantic has also implemented two more items in the form of berries, obtained at Poke Stops. The Nanab berries slow down Pokemon, making them easier to catch, while the Pinap berry doubles the amount of Candy received if your next catch attempt is successful.

Keep a lookout for the update, which is rolling out to Android (0.57.2) and iOS (1.27.2) now.
