F1 2017 gets first trailer, classic cars reappear

Codemasters confirmed a few months ago that F1 2017 was a thing, revealing little else about the title at the time. Now, the studio has published the first trailer for the game, also revealing that classic cars will return to the franchise.

The trailer shows off three classic cars, in the form of Senna and Prost’s McLaren MP4/4, Nigel Mansell’s Williams FW14B and the Ferrari F2002. Codemasters has since confirmed that the McLaren MP4/4 will be a preorder bonus, but will also be available as paid DLC.

The studio revealed that there will be a total field of 12 classic cars, spanning 30 years of F1. How will the classic cars be integrated into the game though?

F1 2017 will bring classic cars back to the franchise for the first time since F1 2013

“For the first time ever, F1 2017 fully integrates the classic experience into the main career mode,” said Lee Mather, Creative Director at Codemasters, in a statement. “As part of your career you will be invited to race in modern day, invitational events in the different classic F1 cars throughout the season.”

Mather said that F1 2017 will also allow you to use the classic cars in other modes, such as online multiplayer and time trials. Additionally, the new title will feature four alternative circuit layouts.

F1 2017 launches on 25 August 2017 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
