  • RetroEpic bringing Flash Point: Fire Rescue board game to PC, iOS

SA game developer, RetroEpic, is bringing the widely popular board game Flash Point: Fire Rescue, to PC and iOS in 2017. The turn-based strategy game has players taking on the role of firefighters as they attempt to rescue seven to 10 victims from a burning building. During the game, the fire will spread, making it harder for the players to achieve their goals. Players will need to strategise as a range of hazards will block their way. RetroEpic's digital take on the game will include both solo and co-operative play, two different burning houses, and eight different firefighters, each with their own...

Hey you, using that swanky flagship over there, have you ever stopped to think if companies are doing enough for budget smartphone users? It's great if you can tote a R14 000 metal slab around, but what about those who can't? What about those users who need a simple, cheap and reliable tether to the digital world? In this week's episode, we focus chiefly on the budget smartphone space. Sure, it might not be as sexy as the Gorilla Glass- and USB Typc-C monsters atop the hierarchies, but they are important. If anything, when companies limit themselves to a strict...

  • Watch 11 minutes of Gravity Rush 2’s gorgeous gameplay

Debuting on the PlayStation Vita back in 2012, Gravity Rush was a pretty promising game on a less promising platform. Thankfully, the game came to the PlayStation 4 in 2015, and later this year, Sony's Japan Studio will be launching the sequel. Starring Kat and her cat once again, the game reuses the popular and rather gorgeous art style of the first title, with improved lighting effects, physics and performance tweaks. Overall, that makes for a pretty beautiful experience. This of course, is at least according to 11 minutes of gameplay published on PlayStation Access's YouTube channel today. If you're interested in...

  • No Man’s Sky: Sony’s Yoshida criticises Hello Games’ PR strategy

Sony is slowly distancing itself from the No Man's Sky aftermath, that's at least according to comments made by Sony Studios' president Shuhei Yoshida. Speaking to Eurogamer at the Tokyo Game Show, Yoshida criticised the head of Hello Games Sean Murray for promising more than the developer could deliver. "It wasn't a great PR strategy , because he didn't have a PR person helping him, and in the end he is an indie developer," he explains. "I understand some of the criticisms especially Sean Murray is getting, because he sounded like he was promising more features in the game from...
