  • Final Fantasy XV [PS4] review: Is it worth the wait?

It's been ten years since Square Enix announced the development of PlayStation 3 exclusive, Final Fantasy Versus XIII. In 2012, the title was rebranded to Final Fantasy XV, the next core entry in the critically acclaimed JRPG franchise. After a decade of waiting, should fans be excited about the long-awaited title, or denounce it as their own Final Fantasy? The game follows a close-knit band of friends on their way to get the future king of Lucis to his wife-to-be. Think of The Hangover, but with monsters and less alcohol. Noctis Lucis Caellum, the prince and king-to-be, might not be your favourite...

  • Final Fantasy XV breaks records with over 5m units sold

After 10 years in development, Final Fantasy XV (formerly Final Fantasy Versus XIII) was released on 29 November. It seems like the wait has paid off for Square Enix as over five million units of the game have been sold. According to a press release sent to Gearburn, this makes Final Fantasy XV the fastest-selling title in the series. The game went on to break the record for the number of digital downloads for a day-one release in Japan. In Asia, excluding Japan, it also smashed sales numbers for a combination of physical and digital titles sold on the day of release. Local allocation...

  • Final Fantasy XV delayed thanks to day-one patch

For better or worse, day-one updates have become the norm over the past few years. In saying so, there are a few big disadvantages to taking this route. Arguably the biggest downside is that you need an internet connection to grab the update, along with plenty of data. After all, patches can often be several gigabytes in size. Fortunately for those without a decent connection, Square Enix has opted to delay Final Fantasy XV's 30 September release in order to incorporate the day one update. Game director Hajime Tabata broke the news in a video uploaded to the Final Fantasy XV YouTube channel. "Our...

  • Raru offers Final Fantasy XV Ultimate Collector’s Edition for R4799 [update]

Update: The Ultimate Collector's Edition on PS4 is now sold out. After the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event, fans were not only excited about the game, but the special editions launching with it. The one that caught everyone's eye was the Ultimate Collector's Edition, but it was limited print-run and exclusive to the Square Enix online store. Local online retail Raru has just put the version up for pre-order, but at a hefty price. The Ultimate Collector's Edition includes two exclusive steelbook cases, the game, Kingsglave movie and the Brotherhood anime, in-game content, as well as a Play Arts Kai figure of Noctis....

  • Final Fantasy XV launches 30 September on Xbox One, PS4

This morning's Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event showed off an incredible amount of content and footage for the upcoming game. So much so that it's hard not to be excited about it. During the numerous video trailers, new cities, canyons, mines, and tree houses were featured, with all of it rendered in the gorgeous Luminous Studio. A day-night cycle, which we previously saw in the demo, Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae, was also featured in greater detail, and it looks gorgeous. Apart from protagonist's car, which can also fly, the game will also include Chocobos -- a series staple -- which can drift, of...

  • Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event: the anime, the movie, the demo, the pinball

Aside from all of the core Final Fantasy XV content shown off at the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event, there were also some very interesting surprise announcements. How did Square Enix keep all of these a secret for so long? Firstly, and as with most FF titles, there will be an in-game mini game. Called Justice Monsters Five, this pinball title will not only be playable within FFXV, but also available to download for Windows 10, iOS, and Android devices in the coming future. There's no word if it will unlock bonuses withing FFXV. Next up is a brand new playable...

  • ‘Final Fantasy XV’ demo will reward hardcore fans, be super exclusive

Is it safe to say that Final Fantasy XV is one of the most eagerly anticipated games ever made? I think so. The game was announced by Square Enix back in the Victorian Era, and since then there's been a lot of speculation and hearsay regarding this title. "Will it be made?" was one common thread, but all sources seem to indicate that it's still a very tangible prospect. Frustratingly though, most fans won't be able to play the demo if they don't jump a few hurdles first. Purchasing Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector's Edition will guarantee those lucky few a...
